Hosting each other when you visit sounds good! If anyone wants to visit Stanford or Berkley I can host them. I am 20 miles from Stanford and may be 70-80 from Berkley.

And about preparing for application wait for a week, I may join you :)

willget800, why your Excel is missing Columbia, it's good school.

I believe we do have a sub-forum here where we can start discussing, but in many cases, it happens that, after GMAT people don't find time. I also feel that we need to discuss a lot about the apps process, essays etc. Let's start discussions, I'm sure there are many friends like Paul, Hjort, Scott ready to help anytime... :)

I am 100% onboard with this idea.

Where is everyone applying?

I'm trying to narrow my list right now.

So far:

KGSM
Wharton
Harvard
MIT (maybe)
NYU
Yale
Georgetown

Chicago = no, too quantitive
Stanford = no chance
Michigan = no, dont like location
Cornell = ditto, location wont work for me
Columbia = HEard its one of those cuthroat competitive places, not interested.
Dartmouth = ?
Duke = possibly
Virginia Darden = no, need ot be in a city
UCLA = possibly, but would prefer east coast
CMU = no, focus on technology not my interest
UNC = no
UC Berkely = only west coaster I'd consider probably
Indiana = no way
Texas = not even if it was free
Emory = not even if they paid me
Purdue = Indiana? No thanks.
Washington U = no
Notre Dame = indiana? No thanks.

A few of my friends at GMATClub have asked what I have been up to in the last few months.

I am suffering from post-GMAT withdrawl syndrome. Since the last couple of weeks, I have started working on my apps in earnest.

Unfortunately, there aren't great forums for that. The popular ones are full of noise and little relevance.

I was hoping that all of us prospective GMATClub applicants gang up and share notes/motivate each other through the process.

You and all interested members can all tell us how you want this idea to work. This place is meant to be a meeting place. Of course, we probably cant beat starbucks for ambience and face to face meetings for effectiveness, but we will definitely try.

PS: Moderators, move this to an appropriate forum...I couldn' think of one :). BTW, how does one become a moderator ?

A love for sharing and helping is all we need.

I'll chime in here too...

I am looking for a top-notch school that has a great real estate department, and it would be good if their (did I use a pronoun improperly here?:)) entrepreneurship offerings were strong too.

I think I'm going to apply in rounds so that I don't kill myself. Have considered Columbia's ED program, but am not sure that I'm willing to take the risk that I won't get into H/S/W. I am going to do more investigation, but at this time I plan to:

H/S/W
Col
MIT

Possible apps at: NYU, UVA, Kellogg, Duke, Berkeley

I just bought a bunch of books on Amazon on how to target the schools in a cohesive marketing campaign. I've got a 710 GMAT/3.5 GPA from a good school, military & entrepreneur background -- so I would like to think that if I position myself properly then I could have an outside shot at H/S/W... who the heck knows though. At least want to put my best foot forward and see where the chips fall.

You know, I think the thing is the way the forums are titled/ordered that keeps the discussion from flowing from GMAT to Apps..

There doesnt seem to be a "B-school application discussion" general area. (There is but its kind of hard to find, and even then its described as "All generic information and topics that do not belong to other areas go here. "

Ask Hjort - well, thats for Hjort.
B-School Ambassador , again....
AskAccepted.com ... nope not here either
MBA Game Plan ... . again, its about taking questions... Further confuses the issue because "MBA Game Plan" sounds generic enough to post about your mba game plan... but its really a place to get specific questions answered.
Ph.D... well not here
Share your experience... again not here...

Then we have B-school reviews..

Maybe reorder things a bit...
At the top of B-school header, move the "General Information" thread thats under B-school reviews and title it "Applications Discussion" with a subtext of something similar to "GMAT" like "Discuss your Application stragies and questions here" ...

Right underneath that put "Share your B-School App EXperience" then after that put Ask Hjort, AskAccepted, Ambassador etc...

That way... You mimick the GMAT forum structure:

GMAT
Discuss your GMAT Strategies Here
Share your GMAT experience
Congratulations from GMATCLUB. Tell us more about your preparation. If you didnt do well, you could always Seek advice to improve your scores :)

Then under MBA:

MBA Applications Discussion
Discuss your Application stragies and questions here
Share your B-School App experience.
Share your B-School application process and admit stories here.

I just have difficulty seeing where I should be posting general questions that are not directed specifically to Hjort, AskAccepted, or whomever else.

I just picked up Paul Bodine's book. Haven't really dove into yet. I'm trying to stay away from books if I can - I'd rather write from the heart than from the mind on these.

How are you writing your essays already? The questions for 2007 have not been released .... have they?
