So my first go at the test I got a 530 Q29 and V34. I have never been a great math person, but I had studied from knowing nothing much to that.
So I spent the next month drilling on math. Problems after problems. I did not worry much on the verbal, just glanced at SC stuff. I studied 2-3 hours every day and 5-8 every weekend. No gym, no friends. Just Gmat. I was getting problems right consistently. rarely getting any wrong from the OG11 book, Green
OG book ect ect
I woke up yesterday.. felt great.. ipod on.. in a great mood and headed towards the test. The guy working at the test center was sorta a weirdo. loud creepy dude. So he says "Wow you don't look 27 you look 14!! You look great!" Um thanks? He takes my picture and information. He says "I need a list from you" Of? "What you do to look so young." I gave the uncomfortable laugh and just walked in.
Did the essays with ease.. no problems.
Started the quant... but started to get distracted because I could hear loud creepy guy through the glass talking to his co worker. That goes on for a while.. so i turn and make eye contact with the lady he is talking to and I give the smile but shh! signal then point at him. She nods, gets what i am saying. But that dude doesn't stop. I start on a problem then blabber mouth goes and I have to start over. Dammit. I am getting mad now. By the end of quant I had 35 second for 4 problems. %@#$*
So during the break creepy guy is MIA so I talked to the lady about how we can hear him though the glass. I was very nice about it.. said it was very distracting to me. She said she would talk to him. Offered me ear plugs. the kind they have never seem to work.. my tiny ears reject them. can't the guy just shut up?!
Verbal.. same thing loud guy distractions the whole time. But I plugged though. Final score
410 Q20 V24.
OMG from 530-410 how is that even possible. Is the test broken? From 600+ on my GMATprep tests to this. So as I am leaving I get my paper work from loud weirdo guy. I said in a very nice tone, I am not sure if you know this, but the test takers can hear you through the glass and it is fairly distracting. he says "well you are the only one complaining, so whatever" I said well maybe because the test is over and scores are what they are so people feel like why bother complain at this point. Just because I speak up you are diminishing what I say because no one else has said it? It was distracting none the less. I guess I will have to talk to the manager. apparently he is the manager of the Brooklyn Pearson Vue center. He claims he doesn't have a boss and I would have to go online and figure it out. WTF. I am not blaming this guy for my score, but I do believe it was distracting and I have the right to a quiet testing environment.
leaving there I had a Chernobyl style meltdown. Cried all night 540-410?!! Any advice on a new study plan. I am paralyzed with fear and depression right now to even think straight.
