That seems lil out of wack. Altho I wud tend to believe whatever official score says but getting 48 after 15 mistakes doesn't seem right. In power preps, 5-6 mistakes will fetch u 48 and one can get 50 by making 1-3 mistakes. To get a 51 in quant, as per poweprep and the real thing, u shud make "no" mistakes. Also in verbal one wud get 41 with 6-7 mistakes. What did u guys get in powerprep ?

So far I've just done one PowerPrep test, and that was before studying, as a gauge. I got 690: 46 quant (7 mistakes) and 39 verbal (13 mistakes).

Kaplan tests so far were 630 and 690, though the first of those wasn't really accurate because I got interrupted midway through by friends showing up and I just randomnly guessed on the last 15 questions or so. The 690 broke down as 40 quant (9 mistakes) and 40 verbal (7 mistakes).

I'm waiting to take the second PowerPrep closer to the test date. I think the verbal scores in the practice tests in particular are low, as I made a lot of stupid and avoidable mistakes. Quant is a different story; I suck at data sufficiency. Am working on it.

Hi friends,

Hope you must have seen my ealrier mail after I took the GMATPrep 1 day b4 yesterday back.

Section = wrong/total, Scaled Score
Quant = 15/37, 49
Verbal = 12/41, 41
GMAT Score = 730. :pc

To get over the confusion of the High No of errors vs the Score I went in for the PowerPrep 1 today as that was reported to be much more accurate and got the following.

Section = wrong/total, Scaled Score / percentile
Quant = 7/28, 45 / 82%
Verbal = 1/30, 45 / 98%
GMAT Score = 730. :shock: again.

If we take this as a critical reasoning qs my answer to the dilemma would be that in the GMATPrep test I had got most of my errors in the eliminated (future test qs) part.
What do you people think. :devil

1st a simple Q.
What is the relationship between these 3.
a. All questions in OG 10
b. Questions in PowerPrep
c. Questions in Actual GMAT.

Other qs that comes to my mind are that though I have completed about 30% (combined Quant & Verbal) of the OG 11 and dont possess a Photographic memory - I could recognise a few questions in Powerprep 1 while I dont remeber doing that in GMAT Prep 1. It has also been established (saw stats in a Forum) that 60% of OG 11 is common to OG 10.

a. If you take PP 1 after doing OG 11 would it be representative of your final results - wouldnt your score be contaminated.
b. If the Qs bin for GMAT Prep 1 is not OG 11 then does it make GMAT Prep 1 more potent as in that case your scores are not contaminated (since no Common Qs)

I hope I am not confusing the whole thing but if Iam then please treat this as a Critical Reasoning Question :lol:

Waiting for some :panel expert discussion.

Bye

Received 690-
Quant - 13 mistakes - 46
Verbal - 9 mistakes - 39
Quant seemed to me a little harder than Kaplan's and OG. VErbal was comparatively easy.

So, is it some kind of bug in the scoring system of the program?

If you get 10-15 wrong in any section - and majority of the ones that are wrong are experimental questions - then a high score makes sense.
So, e.g. Q - 12 Total Wrong, all 9 experimental wrong means you got only 3 wrong in your quant section - 50/51 auto.
Ditto with verbal (11 experimental)

hey parag_bhadra, could you give us a breakdown of the # of questions you missed in the 1st 15, next 15, and last 10 please? Also could you talk a little bit about your timing too.

How close is the GMATPREP questions to the real GMAT? Is the questions on Powerprep more closer to the real thing? Which?

PowerPrep felt closer to the real thing, IMHO, except for the boldface CR questions which were similar to GMATPrep. I found the math on GMATPrep much tougher than the math on the real test. But then, that's just my opinion.

Here is the Link to D/L GMATPrep

https://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT/Limi ... ftware.htm

Another godd thing about it is that one you have done thhe 2 tests - you can uninstall GMATPrep and reinstall it - viola you will have 2 more tests (with very minimal - if any, overlap with the earlier tests)

Bad thing - no explanations - but then for that you have GMAT Club :-D

Really? No overlap if you re-download GMATprep?

What about if you have both Gmat Prep and Powerprep? Are there a lot of overlaps there? Wonder what the difference is b/n them.
