Prior to the MiF, I was doing some trading and retail/commercial investments. I am currently doing securitization.

You can certainly address the two issues at hand:
- why FT rather than recommended PT?
- why should we take you while many others have much more experience?

A friend of mine got in with only 2 years experience also so I do not think it is a problem if you can justify your young age and emulate your passion for finance. There is no specific profile one has to fit. I believe that something which might help your below average work exp. is a high GMAT and good extra curricular, including good essays. On a more encouraging note, I must say that the nature of your work experience is fairly good.

Paul, thanks for your input addressing my questions..

In the essay part of the MiF application, there is a question which sounds like "Why do you want to study for a specialist Masters in Finance programme as opposed to a more general masters degree?" .
What do they really mean by "general masters degree"? MBA? or less vocal finance degrees?
What reasons do students usually show?

again, thank you very much in advance!

Borya.

Just mention your passion for finance and why you want to work in finance post MiF. Whatever you did in the past which might help justify you get this as opposed to an MBA, say it.

Hi, I was just curious whether someone knows the ratio of interviewed vs admitted applicants for the MiF programme at LBS? I was interviewed last week, and although the alumnus said I was a good fit, I am just nervous as really want to get in.

Thank you.

I asked the same question after my interview but I don't believe LBS discloses this... Unless there was anything really wrong with your interview, the decision would be based on your application package. You should hear from them by friday I think. Good luck.

I hope I get in. I think I have a good overall profile: GMAT 680, MBA GPA 3.7, BS GPA 3.7, 3 years financial international exp, CFA, and a clear goal where I want to be after the programme, some other activities. I really want to move to London and work there.

neon, your profile looks like typical MiF candidate, even your GMAT score!

During their Open day I asked how many application they received (l guess for last year). Adcom said 600 applications for 140 places. But, obviously you would expect high quality of applicant pool , as you have to go through initial eligibility screening.

I am making effort to apply (and take GMAT) by deadline, 3 May.

How was your interview? Relax? Intimidating?

Good luck with interview results!

It was a relaxed one, approx 1.2 hrs, the interviewer was a very nice person, and we had a good discussion.

Yes but no internship option given the 1 year program.
