Hi, I think I would disagree - I gave mocks 1-4 and my scores gradually kept improving, with the highest I’ve ever scored coming up in mock 4. I found the difficulty to be mostly similar. Might be a prep thing!

Great question - some of these depends on if you are on wait list because they want to learn more from you, or because they have already admitted candidates with similar profiles. Are there any points in your profile that are off from the class profile? GMAT/GRE/CGPA, career goals, years of work ex?

Guys, I’m shooked... GMAT Focus scoring is no joke. Wrote the GMAT yesterday, got 5 questions incorrect in Quant and got a mere 35th percentile lol, whereas on the mocks that is equivalent to 10-11 incorrect answers. And it’s weird because the report said that I’ve not changed any answer, when I changed one... anyways. Good luck everyone, keep pushing! :’)

Hi, you can read this blog by one of gmatclub experts to understand why number of wrong vs score/percentile cannot be easily correlated in GmatFocus. Blog: https://delv.ac/blog/what-are-experimental-questions Also, I recently saw someone with just 1 wrong in quant getting 85%ile. Additionally, I got 5 wrong like you in quant and got 66%ile in quant. The blog can be of some help alhough the FE quant scoring is brutal.

Hey, ShahbazKhan123,

From what I found on the official website, Based on the data provided in Georgetown’s 2022 MBA Employment Report, Consulting is reported to be the top profession of choice for MBA graduates from Georgetown McDonough, with 29% of the Class of 2022 opting to work in this industry. This indicates that the program has a strong focus on developing skills and knowledge that are valued by consulting firms, such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning.

I hope this helps!

Cheers!

Hey, charlesc898,

Based on the experiences of McDonough graduates and the limited traction of Georgetown MBA at MBB firms, it can be a bit challenging to get into MBB from Georgetown.

While Bain and BCG do recruit from Georgetown, there have only been a handful of successful candidates over the years. Additionally, the Consulting Club and support at Georgetown have somewhat been criticized by graduates as not being very helpful.

Moreover, any shuffling among M7/top 10 mostly reflects student preferences rather than firm preferences. So while it’s not impossible to get into MBB from Georgetown, it requires a lot of work, smart decisions around club involvement, and a bit of luck.

I hope this helps!
Cheers!

You could check out here for the list of top MBA programs for a career in consulting, along with the latest hiring stats: https://admitstreet.com/blog/best-busin ... onsulting/

The best way to check the % that landed a role in Dubai is to check the schools’ employment reports (some provide the geographic split, though geographic split w/in each sector isn’t usually mentioned). LinkedIn search is another quick way to get a ballpark number, by filtering school, company and geography.

Prima facie, yes. Your score equates to 700, a far cry from the M7 averages. That said, if you are from a background not often seen in classrooms (think ’nationality’), then you may have a fighting chance. But yes, prima facie, very low quant doesn’t lend you strength. I suggest you to improve your score and balance across the sections. You have time for R1.

Hi OrangeSunsets21, 645 is a very good score, but it won’t help you stand out at the top schools. As for your question about quant, I would... hope not. In my experience, quant on the new GMAT can be quite brutal (disclaimer: not a quant expert). Hopefully, schools will recognise this sooner rather than later. Go for a retake if you can, but a retake may not be necessary.

Hey, nust2017,

For an MBA candidate aiming to secure a consulting role in Dubai, it’s crucial to select a program with a strong global brand, an extensive alumni network, and robust career support services, especially in international consulting. While many of the top 15 (T15) MBA programs in the U.S. can offer pathways into international consulting careers, let’s look specifically at Ross (University of Michigan) and Cornell (Johnson), as well as another strong candidate in this range.

University of Michigan (Ross), Cornell University (Johnson), and Northwestern University (Kellogg) are all great options for those seeking to enter the consulting industry.
These schools have strong career services and extensive alumni networks that can be very helpful in securing consulting roles.

In particular, Ross is known for its action-based learning approach, Johnson offers personalized career support, and Kellogg is renowned for its strength in teaching and placing graduates in consulting roles.

All three programs offer global reach and opportunities for students interested in pursuing consulting careers in Dubai.

Some stats that might help you!

According to the Michigan Ross industry report, the mean base salary for consulting is $159,900, with a base salary range of $51,996-$171,600. 25.8% of the class were selected into consulting. To know more you can click on this link here -
https://michiganross.umich.edu/sites/de ... port_f.pdf

For Johnson’s two-year program, 40% of employed consultants earn a base salary ranging from $71,500 to $195,000, with an average of $178,049 and a median of $190,000. You can find more about it here - https://www.johnson.cornell.edu/program ... ment-data/

The Kellogg MBA Class of 2023 accepted a compensation package that included a base salary and signing bonus. The consulting industry had a 41.91% acceptance rate with a low base salary of $85,000, a high of $235,000, an average of $181,638, and a median of $190,000 with a median signing bonus of $30,000. Hey,
I have a GMAT Score of 670 (Q-49, V-33) Classic Gmat format. I am currently working in one of leading Management Consulting firms and will have around 4.5 years of experience by September 2025. I am planning to do an MBA in September 2025.
I have 9.08 CGPA, have published research papers in very reputed journals as well, and have a strong Social Service and Volunteering experience as I am leading the Social Impact Interest Group of my Organization for the past 2 years.
I am planning to apply in Europe. Which Business Schools will you suggest me to apply to? I want to get into Traditional Consulting/ Project Management roles after doing MBA.

Your consulting exposure, early promotion and Extracurriculars indicated are good angles, while the GMAT could be better.

I’d like to understand your work-ex and motivations deeper. Broadly though, you could look at schools like INSEAD, HEC, IESE, IMD, LBS and Oxbridge. These tend to place well in Consulting and Project Management (need clarity on which sectors here) roles post-MBA. It’d be crucial to have a strong narrative overarching your roles, goals, extracurriculars, and how/ why an MBA fits in.

Feel free to reach out with your profile for a deeper chat.

Hey there @s_j_2510

A 670 GMAT score (Q49, V33) is a solid foundation for your European MBA applications in September 2025, especially with your upcoming 4.5 years of experience at a leading consulting firm.

Here are some European business schools you could consider:

Schools with strong consulting placements: INSEAD (France), London Business School (UK), HEC Paris (France), IE Business School (Spain), SDA Bocconi (Italy).

Project Management focus: Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands), ESCP Business School (multiple European locations), Manchester Business School (UK).

Your research publications and social impact leadership experience add a unique dimension to your profile. However, to provide a more tailored recommendation on specific schools and how to strengthen your application further, a deeper dive is needed.

We offer a 1:1 free profile evaluation call; during the call, we can analyze your background in detail, suggest the best schools for your goals, and create a personalized application strategy. This includes crafting a compelling narrative, highlighting your strengths, and optimizing your application.

Hey @atomicax

I hope you are doing good. You’re on track to build a strong profile for your investment banking aspirations with target schools like LBS MFA, LSE MFin, Oxford MFE, and Imperial MFin.

You’ve built a profile that shines brightly for your investment banking goals! Graduating from BITS Pilani and scoring a phenomenal 740 GMAT establish a strong academic foundation with top-notch quantitative skills – exactly what these programs seek.

Your dedication to finance is evident through your finance minor, online certifications, and crushing the CFA Level 1 exam at the 90th percentile! Furthermore, the 5-month internship at UBS Group in finance provides valuable experience, while your additional startup experience showcases your initiative. Rounding out your profile is your commitment to social responsibility through 3 years of volunteering and active club participation, demonstrating well-rounded leadership qualities.

LSE and Oxford MFin programs often have higher average GPAs (around 8/10). However, your impressive GMAT score can significantly compensate. Additionally, your finance-focused coursework, certifications, and relevant work experience can further demonstrate your capabilities in lieu of a slightly lower GPA.

To get a more detailed picture of your competitiveness and suggest specific strategies for each program, a deeper dive into your profile would be beneficial. Hey, I have a GMAT Score of 670 (Q-49, V-33) Classic Gmat format.

Hey, s_j_2510,

With your strong background in management consulting, excellent academic performance, and robust GMAT score, you are well-positioned to apply to several prestigious business schools in Europe. Your commitment to social service and leadership in your organization’s Social Impact Interest Group further enhances your profile, making you a compelling candidate for programs that value diverse experiences and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Business Schools in Europe to Consider:

- INSEAD (France/Singapore) - Known for its intense one-year program and strong global orientation, INSEAD is a top choice for students aiming to excel in international consulting roles. Your GMAT score is around the average for INSEAD, and your strong consulting background and leadership in social impact could help differentiate your application.

-London Business School (UK) - LBS could offer you an excellent network and career opportunities in these fields. Your academic credentials and professional experience would be highly valued here.

- HEC Paris (France) - Renowned for its expertise in producing leading figures in the consulting world, HEC Paris would be an excellent match for your career goals. The school also places a significant emphasis on candidates who bring strong international and leadership perspectives, aligning well with your profile.

- IESE Business School (Spain)—The case-method teaching style would also allow you to leverage your consulting background effectively. Given your leadership in social initiatives, IESE could be particularly appealing.

Application Strategies:

Highlight Your Leadership in Social Impact: Given your role in the Social Impact Interest Group, emphasizing work, changes made, and any of your achievements in this area could strongly resonate with business schools that are increasingly prioritizing social responsibility and ethical leadership.

Leverage Your Consulting Experience: Showcase your consulting projects, the skills you’ve developed, and how these experiences prepare you for post-MBA roles.

Research Fit: Look into each program’s culture, curriculum, and post-MBA employment trends to ensure that the schools align with your personal and professional goals. Tailoring your application to reflect this fit can greatly enhance your chances of admission.

With a well-crafted Essay that highlights your strengths and aligns with each school’s culture and values, you should be a competitive candidate for these top European MBA programs.

I hope this helps!
Cheers!

I have a gmat score of 710 (classic edition), If i score less than 710 in focus edition (suppose 685), will gmac send the old score to the colleges?

Hey, skargmat,

According to the official GMAC website, when you send your GMAT score to a program, the school will receive only the score of the appointment you had selected to send. However, if you retake the exam, the schools you had previously selected will not receive the score unless you choose to send it to them. Once your GMAT score report is ready, you will receive an email notifying you that your official score report is available to be sent to schools.

I hope this helps!
Cheers!

Hey, atomicax,

Thank you for your Question!

Regarding your Profile Evaluation, your CGPA is slightly below the typical minimum for Oxford and LSE, but this is compensated by your strong GMAT score, which is well above average and should help mitigate concerns regarding academic performance. Additionally, BITS Pilani’s reputation as a top-tier university adds considerable weight to its academic credentials. The completion of CFA Level 1 with a score in the 90th percentile is particularly impressive and directly relevant to your intended field of study, which enhances your profile significantly.

Furthermore, your internship experiences offer practical insights into the financial sector and showcase your ability to apply academic knowledge in real-world settings, aligning perfectly with your goal of breaking into investment banking.

Recommendations:

When submitting your applications, make sure to highlight any leadership roles you held and emphasize your hands-on experience in the finance sector through your internships.

Extracurricular Activities and Leadership: Your involvement in an NGO or contribution to club leadership should be highlighted significantly. Make sure to weave a great narrative around them to demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to community service. These activities not only show your ability to work collaboratively but also your initiative and drive, qualities that are highly valued in potential candidates.

Personal Statement: Craft a compelling personal statement that connects your past experiences with your future ambitions. Clearly articulate how each target program specifically aligns with your career goals and how you plan to contribute to the program.

Chances of Admission:

LBS MFA and Imperial MFin: Your chances are strong, given your profile, GMAT score, and relevant work experience.
LSE MFin and Oxford MFE: More competitive due to the CGPA requirements, but your strong GMAT and CFA performance, along with professional experiences, should make a compelling case for your candidacy.

Overall, while there are challenges, particularly with the CGPA for Oxford and LSE, your profile is competitive. It’s crucial to effectively communicate your readiness and fit for each program, underscoring your quantifiable successes and future potential in investment banking.

I hope this helps!
Cheers!

Besides other responses, please note 685 in GFE is now lower than 710 in Classic; 685 GFE is actually higher and equates to 740 in Classic.
