I am pleased to tell all my mates here that i scored 730 today morning.
I thank all the poeple on this site especially bb, stolyar, akamai and my freind praet (who is now busy doing research) & shubh. BB, stolyar u have done a great job by buliding this wonderful site.
One thing that clearly comes out of my performance is that anyone willing to work hard can get a good score. IMHO no exceptions to this rule. It's just that some have worked on their skills before and others have to do NOW.
my previous scores:
Oct-2002 - 590 (q-49, v-22)
Oct-2003 - 640 (q-47, v-31)
Nov-2003 -730 (q-50, v-40)
After my last test in Oct, i realized that my major weak area was SC. So this time i really worked on it. At the same time i practised much tougher RC & CR questions of Lsat. I can tell you if have done them, understanding and developing strategies how to attack them, u will be very comfortable with the questions on actual test.
I started with quant and found it to be okayish. Some tricky questions in the beginning. U will see the difficulty of questions jump up and down.. some tough followed by pretty easy. So dont panic and just focus on question right in front of you. In the middle i needed scracth paper, raised my hand and no one came..
the ETS guy was strolling in the corridor. i got up, went outside, cursed him (mentally...
) and brought the new scracth paper. Be cool and focused throughout the test.
For quant:
Obviously GMAT Club is the best.
U may also want to check out questions in the link below. This site prepares for a tough MBA exam (CAT) in india and has good collection of quant problems:
https://www.ascenteducation.com/india-mb ... 2002.shtml
If u have any problem in understanding the above quant questions, just post them here. Also after solving a tough quant problem, always try solving it again and see how u can solve it faster on the actual test and be sure to understand the concepts.
Verbal has been my weak area. But this time i had practised enough to be sure to crack every question. For SC question parallelism was very common. Also while tackling any SC question reason it out
why one choice is correct and others wrong.
I found the following material extremely useful for various sections of GMAT:
The American Heritage Book of English Usage. This site is very good to memorize grammer rules. Read everything that is covered at GMAT (prounoun, sub-verb agreement, parallelism, redundancy.. et al)
https://www.bartleby.com/64/
For RC & SC questions, try practising the Lsat questions.
Finally, if u beleive that u can score good and presently have a bad score..
Dont give up...
Identify your weak areas, work on them and i am sure each of us can do better. I would be more than happy to answer doubts or help in any other way.
thanks again
still a long way to go, have to start writing those torturous essays..
