TEAM

SBC is the only consulting firm in the industry who has on our team a complete panel of former MBA Admissions Officers from the top US programs and European programs. No other firm has this complete talent. 75% of our MBA consultant team hails from the top seven US MBA programs as MBA graduates and/or former MBA Admissions Officers, including from Harvard and Stanford. We know what’s going on, and we know it first. We have tremendous insight as to what is currently keeping the AdCom up at night and what values they are looking for from their current students.

MODEL

The SBC System™ has eight core modules and is the most robust of all firms. SBC offers unlimited time with a carefully selected Primary Consultant, allowing for full accountability and dedication. SBC also believes in checks and balances, and thus developed our Flight Test™, which is a complete review by a former Admissions Officer. This structured feedback from a former AdCom member mimics a real AdCom review and helps to ensure that a candidate’s application is most compelling to the target audience. We also offer an "hourly first" option for applicants who prefer to test the waters initially before engaging in our All-In service.

Stacy Blackman

I worked with Stacy Blackman Consulting and had a great experience. My consultant was always available, reviewed my applications countless times, and provided great advice to help me turn qualities that otherwise seemed normal into ones that would seem compelling to business schools. I was accepted into 2 MBA programs, both of which I was very pleased with. While I did not get my top choice, I did get into Booth and Kelogg. At the beginning of the application process, I was lost. But my consultant helped me identify schools and helped me put together stories for each of my applications. I am sure I would not have had any success without Stacy Blackman.

Jed and the Stacy Blackman team were tremendously helpful in achieving my MBA admissions goals. Before embarking on my MBA journey, I thought working in finance for three years and coming from an Ivy League background would give me a leg up on the competition. I quickly realized that I needed a way to differentiate myself from my peers in order to get into my top choice schools. After reviewing several competing firms, I quickly realized that Stacy Blackman offered the most resources and had the most dedicated advisors. Jed was very knowledgeable of the process and knew which of my strengths to play into at each school I applied. He was always available for me and helped all the way through the interview process. I would highly recommend Stacy Blackman to anyone considering applying to top tier business schools from competitive fields.

Admitted everywhere!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

Investing in SBC was worth every single penny. This means a lot coming from someone who initially had a 620, a state school undergraduate education (think party hearty), and the desire to get into Georgetown and Vanderbilt.

From day one, Lisa gave me the confidence to stand behind my accomplishments and craft the most compelling application possible. She also helped me find the last bit of effort to take the GMAT again. Although I scored much higher, I believe that the application Lisa and I crafted was such high-quality that I would have been accepted to my target schools without the GMAT increase.

Lisa is funny, honest, knowledgeable, and an incredible editor. She never let me lose hope of admittance and was a true proponent throughout the process. My advice to those of you who are trying to decide if SBC is right for you is that if you are willing to dedicate the time and energy to creating a high-quality application, you will be astonishingly happy with SBC's comprehensive services. Additionally, I would suggest selecting a safety school that you would seriously consider attending. Even if I had not received positive admissions decisions from my target schools, the investment I made in SBC translated into a full-ride scholarship at my safety school. This is because the tactics and applications I had created with Lisa were extremely useful in applying to other MBA programs.

I have nothing negative to say about my experience with SBC and Lisa. It was a lot of work but ultimately, it resulted in being accepted to every school I applied at!!!

Excellent experience with Keauna Mason

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

I signed up with SBC after having introductory consultation phone calls with a few other admissions consulting firms. SBC felt like they would bring the right set of both one-on-one advise, but also involve a range of secondary and tertiary opinions where necessary, which was particularly attractive to me. Once I signed up, I began working with Keauna Mason, who I can recommend very highly. It was a great experience - she adapted to my working style, and helped me address any issues and provided feedback in a working style that was great for me, and on the schedule that best fit me. She helped keep me on tempo, and the quality of the outputs were better because of the additional opinions and prompting she was able to help me with. The additional preparation - the adcom flight test, practice interviews, etc. - were also of great help in continuing to refine and get better at telling my story. Overall, it was an excellent, and at the end of the day very successful, experience.

Very satisfied with SBC

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

I'm a white guy with soso work experience and a B+ GPA, and I decided late in the game (early August) to apply to business school. I made it clear to her from the beginning that I was willing to put in the work and go for R1 on short notice, and Jessica committed to helping me get there. She was great with helping me craft a story and identify target schools based on my goals. She helped me hit round 1 deadlines for three schools and her response time was fantastic (I had at least 7 or 8 revisions on my essays for each school and she never took more than 24 hours to critique). She also assisted with revamping my resume, coaching my recommendation letters, and polishing some of the finer details on my application. The mock interviews she conducted for me also helped me prepare for the interviews I had as well.

In the end, I got in early action to Duke, so it was a huge relief that I found out where I was going in October. I withdrew my other applications since Duke's EA commitment required me to do so, but I felt confident with the other 2 applications she helped me complete. I highly recommend SBC and Jessica.

Personalized service

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by school email address [?]

I was drawn to Stacy Blackman Consulting after extensive research, I wanted to work with a consulting firm that only took a few candidates and really focused on providing a personalized service. Stacy Blackman Consulting definitely falls into this category. Caryn was help me to identify the things that I wanted from my MBA experience and from that we defined a plan. After this, she worked really hard to understand what my strengths were and designed my applications in a way to best showcase these strengths. We also worked on some weaknesses in my application and she came to very realistic recommendations for those. I would definitely recommend Stacy Blackman Consulting, specially Caryn.

Couldn't Have Done it w/o Dawn @ Stacy Blackman

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

I evaluated multiple consulting firms when I first started my MBA application journey. Because Stacy Blackman had a strong presence and Dawn (from SBC) was highly recommended by a close friend who is now at Wharton, I chose to move forward with Dawn (fortunately she was available to work with me!).

When I started, I had a story and a ton of different ways to approach my applications. Dawn is very strategic in nature and was extremely helpful in guiding me to create a focused brand. She's very in-tune with what the top schools are looking for, which helped ensure I mentioned relevant information in each application. I applied to 4 top schools and was accepted to 3, 2 of which I received generous merit fellowships for. I have no doubt that without Dawn's help, I would not have been able to achieve this level of success.

I highly recommend Dawn!

Would not have made it without Amy

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

When I started applying for business school, I knew I had to get a consultant. After all, I'm not an all-star applicant like many of the people here on the forum. I had a below 3.0 GPA and a GMAT score below the average of my dream school, Marshall. I tried many of the "free trials" offered by consultant companies and I found SBC to be really honest and genuine with me and I went with it. I was assigned to Amy Bergrud, and my long, but rewarding journey began. Amy worked tirelessly with me to help improve my profile, and review my essays. The best thing about her is you can know 100% sure that she will answer your questions within 24hrs. We discussed extracurricular activities, classes, volunteers..etc to help me stand a better chance. Even after I was waitlisted, she continued to help me put together supplements. The whole process took a year, but in the end I was admitted! I'm super excited to attend my dream school and to pursue my ambitious career goals. I wouldn't have made it without Amy.

Admitted to my top choice

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by membership [?]

Had a great experience with SBC and Bill C. in particular. He was very framiliar with my top school and helped immensely throughout the process. It was worth the price and cost without question. I enjoyed working with Bill he helped me with resumes, essays, interview coaching, and kept my spirits up. Resume review and essay editing were the biggest value add. I would recommend him to any other prospective student. Greatest skill was knowledge and expertise. Bill was punctual and always on time which I appreciate very much. I was fortunate to be admitted to my top choice due to Bill's advice, help and support. Thanks again Bill!

Highly Recommend SB Consulting

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

When I first started the application process, I had two glaring weaknesses in my profile: a low GMAT score and a low GPA. I was unable to see past these weaknesses, which caused me to cast a lot of doubt on myself and concern about my prospects. I scoured the internet for MBA admissions consultants and decided to use Stacy Blackman Consulting, and they paired me with Lisa.

It was a true pleasure working with Lisa. She exceeded every expectation of what I thought a consultant would do. She responded to all of my emails/calls in a very timely manner. She was also approachable and knowledgeable, which made my application experience much better. I trusted her opinions and recommendations in every step of the process. Lisa's affability made me feel very comfortable; I never hesitated to ask a question, even if it seemed far-fetched.

Lisa offered great advice, usually things I had never even thought of. And she was always quick to return her edits on resumes/essays. Working with Lisa not only helped me display my strengths but also gave me the confidence to find those strengths. She was great at helping me translate these strengths on paper and she knew how to present them to admissions committees.

With Lisa's guidance, I was accepted into all three schools I applied to: Rice, SMU, and Texas A&M. I highly recommend Stacy Blackman Consulting, especially Lisa! She was with me every step of the way and I have no doubt that she will be able to help applicants with any background and situation.
