Dear Legendary
bb Admissionado ARINGOToday I am 33, a self sponsored international applicant from Japan ( originally from South Asia, not India) and I have been admitted by Emory for 1 year ( with 15,000 Scholarship) and Marshall IBEAR ( No scholarship)
Background: 12 YOE, auto product manager > Co Founder of a Healthcare startup > robotics Business Development
Also founder of a small angel investing firm.
All the programs are 1-year MBAs. I have also offered Oxford EMBA but not sure whether i should fly in every 5 weeks and attend classes
Having read a lot of posts here about all the dilemmas, I became even more confused.
I will try to put all of my thoughts on the table and hopefully we would sort the right option out.
Post-MBA GOAL: Prefer working in the US for a year after graduation. Want to stay away from Japanese management.
Main target : tech business development or Tech S&OP. ( FAANG or FAANGMULA)
Sub : Consulting ( MBB would be tough , at least tier 2 strategy firm, a big NO for BIG 4), used to work in one of the sweat shop
Fees are one of the biggest concerns.
STEM is a good plus for me.
At the same time, I would like to find a traditional USA student experience and a reputable record in my resume. So, let's jump to the current offers:
1. USC IBEAR 1-year: STEM after joining and applying for STEM track . IBEAR is mostly international, for mid-careers with average age on the program about 34. It seems to me that the school is using its brand to attract international students and earn a lot of money. But i like their curriculum and cohort seems to be very rich and diverse . Location is also great
2.Emory 1 year : Also STEM if i take stem classess, Got 15,000 scholarship and i find that their adcom are more amicable and not greedy for money ( they never asked how much you can afford or whats your plan for arranging money like others)
The curriculum is also plus, joined some of the mock class, They are really good
The cohort is quite young or very young.
Location is suburb
On last concern: My wife is doing phd in west part of canada,so Cali is closer than Atlanta, but this is a minor issue
It will be appreciated if someone could answer the following questions:
1. Hows IBEAR and Emory support their careers for international students? Especially Tech or FAANG ?
2. School brand value and long-term effect in career?
3. what other issues i should consider?
Please help!:)
