My application for ISB was not accepted for this year, should I write them and ask about details why it was rejected and which are the areas I can improve upon?

Hi Ankur! You can definitely do that, but generally ISB is not able to share detailed feedback owing to the huge number of applications it gets every year.

We, at IvyCrackers, have a few ISB admissions interview panelists and we recently helped a few candidates with the ding analysis. In case you are interested, you can email us at helloIVYCRACKERS.COM and we can schedule a complementary 30 mins ding analysis call with one of the panelists.

Check the profile of our mentors: https://ivycrackers.com/our-mentors/.

Thanks,

IvyCrackers

This is how we stand out:
  1. Choose Your Mentor: With IvyCrackers, YOU have the power to choose the mentor who best fits your needs. Whether you prefer an experienced alumni or a recent graduate, we've got a diverse pool of mentors ready to guide you through every step of the process.

I did. I later declined for an international MBA, but if there's anything you'd like to discuss, I'd be happy to help

Can do it in the 1st week of May, by writing them an email with your application ID.

Re: Calling all ISB PGP Applicants: 2024 Intake Class of 2025 [#permalink]
2023 was a tricky year for many ISB applicants, perhaps the most difficult year to get an admit.

I say this because of 150+ conversations I have had with those who could/couldn’t make it.

I could spot some very good profiles, stellar GMAT scores, and impeccable quality of work-ex who still couldn’t make it.

Call it increased competition or the global recession swaying candidates to stay in India, I believe the applicant count won’t reduce.

For those of us who did get in, heartiest congratulations and I am sure the coming 12 months would be orbit-shifting for you.

But for those of us who couldn’t, be it getting an interview invite or not being admitted after the interview, these are confusing times.

Many of us are still trying to figure out on what we can revamp in our candidature before we reapply in September.

Should you retake the GMAT? Were your essays on point? Was your profile unique enough to make the cut?

I am happy to provide my 2 cents on what you can do better in the upcoming ISB admissions cycle basis my experiences as an ISB alum and mentor.

Feel free to fill this short Google form and I will personally be reaching out - https://forms.gle/2CHYYEARCVhE8Tyh9

This is open for both re-applicants and 1st time applicants. Let’s crack it (this time).

arihantbengani16 hope this finds you wellYou have the potential to make it to ISB. But you must understand the difference between showcasing your achievements and your responsibilities when applying to a top B-school like ISB. Did you know that your responsibilities have almost no significance in a B-school application? You may have been responsible for hundreds of projects, but unless you demonstrate your impact or achievements through those projects, you are hardly making a dent in the right direction when applying to a B-school like ISB. You have good academics and a decent GMAT. Now, delve deep into your projects and life and strategize how you want to present yourself to the admissions committee. Who are you as a professional, as a person, and in the community? What is your brand marketing message?

To market yourself to business schools, you must understand that your application is an act of personal advocacy, not a workplace self-evaluation, class paper, or confessional. But at the same time, keep all the aspects that ISB values in balance. Don't get carried away with the marketing metaphors. Brands are often faddish, short-lived, skin-deep, and focus-grouped. You should not be. All Apple iphones and Nike Air Jordans are essentially the same. No two humans are.
Reach out should you want to discuss your case over a call.

Best wishes

Thanks for posting here.

Yes; you may write to them; whether you receive a detailed feedback or not will be upto them; however, there is no harm in trying.

In case you are looking at applying again and assessing what could have gone wrong, we will be happy to share our thoughts with you; request you to please share your profile details and we will take it forward.

Hello arihantbengani16,

Thanks for writing in.

You have a good GMAT score and a solid GPA; in short, a lot will depend on the essays you put forth (basically, how well you link your experiences to your future goals + showcase your ability to contribute to the ISB cohort). As you have not shared details pertaining to your goals, it is not possible for us to comment on how feasible they sound.

We feel the following video will help (while this deals with the essays questions from last year, the broad approach will remain the same).

Hope this helps.

All the best!

Hi Arihant! You have a pretty solid profile and great acads (along with GMAT). I can also say that a risk profile is not really common, so that will certainly give you an edge :). Also, industry-wide there are a lot of opportunities in that domain (specifically in consulting). Now a lot depends on your post MBA goals and how well you are able to articulate "Why MBA", "Why ISB", "Why now", and "Why xxxx goal". Along with this you will have to ensure that you highlight about your research paper in your essays which is again pretty unique. Then, it will be really important how well you articulate and defend these things in the interview.

You can book a complimentary profile evaluation call with our ISB admissions interview panelist. In this call we can discuss the questions that I have mentioned above and can get into granular details of your profile.
